Description

Investment grade Plymouth 'Cudas have been fetching serious money for years now. It seems that, when it comes to muscle cars, there's just something about big engine, square-jawed Mopars that turns grown men into star struck admirers. And while that's great for collectors, and the few lucky owners who've managed to hang onto their old school E-Body for two or three decades, it tends to leave most classic car enthusiasts out in the cold. Fortunately the term “numbers matching” and the word “Hemi” aren't the only indicators of this brand's market success. And if you're looking for an ultimate piece of Detroit metal to show AND tear up the road in, cars like this reference quality 383, 4-speed combo are just as cool and just as much fun. Not only does this pristine Plymouth come with an original broadcast sheet, original VIN and fender tags and original core and trunk stamps, it also wears one of the cleanest and best looking restorations we've ever seen. If you're one of the countless enthusiasts who wants a top dog Mopar muscle car that they can enjoy and admire, this expertly restored 'Cuda is the opportunity you've been waiting for!

While this pristine Plymouth isn't a numbers matching piece, the car's restoration is correct and accurate. Its fender tag breaks down as follows:

Is there any rarer Plymouth pigment than this Cuda's shockingly nice Bahama Yellow urethane? As one of the more subdued and scarce hues to come out of Chrysler's hip, 1970s 'brighter is better' mindset, code EL5 yellow is some of the crispest paint to ever adorn classic Mopar metal. Naturally, the fall-like color looks right at home highlighting this frame-off restored BS23N 'Cuda's laser-straight panels, razor-sharp lines, and rock-solid profile. When expertly applied under traditional satin black call outs and buffed to a show worthy shine, it becomes an absolutely fantastic reminder as to just how cool Detroit's golden era really was. And overall, the car's first class finish creates a high gloss visual masterpiece which oozes the bare knuckle confidence and old school appeal that made Plymouth street warriors the stuff of legends!

Thanks to its high dollar nut and bolt transformation this Cuda's crisp shut lines and spectacular panel alignment present much better today than when it rolled off Dodge Main's assembly line almost 42 years ago. At the front of the car a stainless trimmed, 1971-exclusive 'Cuda grille hangs four halogen headlights above a showroom fresh bumper, correct GE road lamps and clear, sculpted parking lights. At the top of the car a “383 'cuda” branded fresh air hood props two stainless lanyards and a small “PLYMOUTH” script in front of like-new glass, fresh stainless trim, new chrome drip rails and Butterscotch sport mirrors. At the sides of the car flush, satin-finish door handles and correct silver fender louvers ride above dent-free rocker trim, new marker lights and a trademark gold Chrysler pentastar emblem. And at the back of the car, a satin black valence hangs a cool “'cuda by PLYMOUTH” emblem between like-new tail lights, a second show worthy bumper and correct stainless exhaust tips. Unlike most dressed and decaled cars, which tend to throw good taste out the window, this awesome E-Body seamlessly balances a cool personality with flashy good looks to create one timeless muscle car with excellent curb appeal.

Pull the pins on this 'Cuda's smooth yellow hood and you'll find a stout 383 cubic inch Magnum V8 that has been rebuilt, refinished and fitted with a slew of aesthetically correct accessories. As the main option for gearheads who don't want to sell an arm for a HEMI or put up with Chrysler's temperamental Super Commando, this short stroke 383 utilizes one 4-barrel Holley carburetor to turn solid 8.7 to 1 compression into 275 horsepower and 390 lb./ft. or torque. All that stump pulling torque is housed in a glossy HEMI Orange block which hangs correctly marked valve covers above fully restored exhaust manifolds. All that compression is sparked by fresh Chrysler Corporation Electronic Suppression wires which are snapped between a correct points distributor and a Mopar voltage regulator. And the big engine's cylinders are cooled by a familiar 26 inch radiator which comes complete with fresh Chrysler hoses and tight squeeze clamps. Visually, the body-matched bay of this stellar Plymouth is in brilliant, show-ready condition featuring immaculate detailing and correct finishes throughout. And naturally, all the little details like a reproduction Mopar red cap battery, a correct brake booster and even an old school Chrysler windshield washer reservoir, have been accurately duplicated or completely restored.

This 'Cuda's fully restored chassis and drivetrain are just as straight forward and clean as its exterior panels and engine bay. The high-winding Chrysler B block churns power through a professionally rebuilt A833 18 spline 4-speed transmission which spins a tough Chrysler rear end. Included in the restoration was a completely rebuilt suspension which helps the car hook up quicker and perform better. Braking, which is surprisingly competent for a 41 year old design, comes courtesy of correct power front discs and heavy duty rear drums; and steering is handled by a traditional Chrysler manual rack. At the corners, a restored set of 15 inch Rallye wheels spin fresh 235/60 BF Goodrich Radial T/As around satin trim rings and pristine center caps. And aesthetically, the bottom of this cool Plymouth is fully detailed and ready for show with correctly oversprayed floors framing both a correctly marked suspension and a modern, aluminized exhaust system that roars through deep turbo mufflers and fantastic sounding resonators.

Inside, the cars well-executed, fully restored black vinyl interior is simple, functional and looks as good as new. The driver and passenger high-back bucket and rear bench seats are showroom fresh and show no signs of any wear at all. Below those seats, new black carpet frames a badass Hurst pistol grip shifter; and above the seats, a taut and wrinkle-free headliner stretches from door to door and window to window. On the doors, new molded panels proudly hang the 'Cuda name amid subtle stainless trim. In front of the driver, a warp-free dash hangs rebuilt gauges above a correct Music Master AM radio. Behind the cockpit, a fully restored trunk holds a new mat below a correct spare tire, a full jack assembly and a correctly decaled decklid. And everything from this brawny 'Cudas bright dome light to its shiny sill plates, is fully sorted and ready to hit the road.

The sale of this awesome Mopar hardtop includes a tattered but original Chrysler broadcast sheet.

Thanks to its exceptional performance, fresh restoration and classic good looks this 'Cuda is guaranteed to please even the most discerning muscle car enthusiast. Fully restored and highly accurate in every way, you can drive it, show it and even take home a few trophies, all for about half the price of a 'ropes and red carpet' HEMI piece. If you've been searching for an awesome old school Plymouth to cherish AND enjoy, you've found your next car!
