593hp C10 Resto-Mod 489 Stroker V8 Automatic 12-bolt Air Conditioning
What do you get when you combine the timeless aesthetics of one of America's pre-eminent blue collar heroes with a roster of some of the best performance hardware money can buy? Well, you get a 593 horsepower workhorse that shatters preconceptions, expectations and urbane enthusiasts' egos 'like a rock'! Mixing the universal appeal of all-American style with the road going prowess of a well-massaged custom, this brutally dapper Square Body is one super cool resto-mod. What's better: you can own and drive this exclusive head turner for a fraction of the money and time it takes to complete a ground-up build. If you're an anxious buyer who's tired of the 'garage furniture' culture that seems to pervade the classic car hobby, this sweet Chevy is one of the coolest road-ready hot rods your money can buy!
IT'S COOL TO BE SQUARE
Wrapping choice resto-mod style around a solid California profile, this super clean Chevy benefitted from a frame-off, nut-and-bolt restoration that marries original sheetmetal with dynamic PPG Deltron Stone Blue two-stage. A fine example of the final era of square Chevrolet pickups, the truck wore original paint until that no-expense-spared rebuild stripped every one of its panels to bare metal. And that tight steel laid the groundwork for an array of subtle yet purposeful customization. At the front of the truck, a polished bumper frames a polished 1979 C10 grille, which centers a billet bowtie and custom bars between clear torches and body-matched buckets. Above that clip, a sculpted hood fronts muted wipers, which clear a crisp windshield that fronts a tinted greenhouse. That dome, enhanced by shaved drip rails, caps a buff fuselage that follows filled marker lamps with factory handles and factory mirrors. At the back of that fuselage, a body-matched bed centers a relocated fuel filler between upsized wheel wells and filled stake pockets. And at the back of that bed, a second polished bumper frames bright taillights and a tasteful, Chevrolet-branded gate.
WORLDY POWER
593 dyno-proven horsepower in a short wheelbase pickup? Yep, sounds like a lot of fun to us! Summon the billet Eddie Motorsports hood supports and you'll find 489 cubic inches of stroked Chevrolet big block that, thanks to the pros at Houston Texas's Westside Performance and Machine, turns a hefty 593 dyno-proven horsepower into 558 lb./ft. of tire-spinning torque! At the top of that magic mill, a K&N X-Stream air cleaner funnels breeze into a Holley-ticked Quick Fuel carburetor, which rides a Holley 300-5 Strip Dominator intake. At the sides of that plane, coated Eddie Motorsports valve covers balance familiar K&N breathers on proven World Products Merlin cylinder heads. Under those heads, a SCAT Enterprises rotating assembly spins a forged 4340 crank beneath forged H-beam rods, forged pistons and a quality Isky hydraulic roller cam. Those internals play well with an MSD Pro-Billet distributor and loomed Taylor ThunderVolt wires. At the front of those wires, a fluid serpentine drive spins a trusty ATI balancer between a factory-style AC compressor and lucid power steering. In front of those ancillaries, a thick aluminum radiator makes excellent use of low-profile puller fans. And exhaust gets handled by 2-inch Hooker tubes.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE
Bottom-side, a tough TCI Super StreetFighter 3-speed works especially well between a 3,200 RPM stall and a custom driveshaft. That proven Turbo-Hydramatic 400 twists power to a narrowed 12-bolt that's finished with Moser axles, a Truetrac posi and Yukon 3.42 gears. That dressed pumpkin pushes a familiar 4-bar rear-clip that's propped on adjustable QA-1 coil-overs. Opposite that clip, a thick CPP sway bar leads predictable drop spindles, tubular CPP control arms and traditional power steering. Stops come courtesy of factory-style discs and drums that have been supplemented with hydroboost power-assist. Exhaust floats from the aforementioned headers into 3-inch, aluminized pipes, which center rowdy Flowmaster mufflers in front of side-exit dumps. The truck sits right thanks to a C-notched frame and chromed Coys C5s, which spin fresh 255/45ZR18 Nitto NT555 G2s in front of fresh 315/35ZR20 Nitto NT555 G2s. And details are on point, with items like a 7-quart Milodon oil pan ensuring plenty of lubrication, and a 20-gallon fuel tank poised for miles of cruising.
SIMPLY STYLISH
Between the doors, a customized Cheyenne interior provides a delightfully simplistic driving experience. Warm Saddle leather dresses a broad bench seat. That throne faces a straight, Cheyenne-spec dash, which wraps satin trim around Dakota Digital VHX telemetry, factory-style climate control and correct Delco-GM audio. The driver spins a wood-rimmed steering wheel around a tilting column. And all that retro goodness rides between a custom headliner, Cheyenne-spec side panels and clean carpet that floats color-keyed mats on quality Dynamat insulation.
A nicely finished classic that was built to be driven AND seen, this rowdy Chevy uses top-notch components to create a unique classic that mixes killer personality with awesome curb appeal. Looking for a road ready hot rod that's guaranteed to draw a crowd wherever you go? Your search is officially over!
