SUN AND STYLE

Treated to a ground-up, professional restoration that was completed by St. Donatus Body and Paint of St. Donatus, Iowa, this classy convertible was stripped completely bare before being placed squarely on the road back to flashy fifties glory. After much detailing and finesse, the car's whittled and solid profile stacked brilliant red two-stage under a striking white top. At the front of that profile, a smoothed bumper mimics a customized grille, which plants bulleted marker lamps beneath red-trimmed headlights. Between those torches, a nosed hood leads the eye to stainless-trimmed glass, which hangs polished vent wings behind polished windshield wipers and small hot rod mirrors. Those mirrors reflect a silky profile that's been shaved of everything but dashing trim spears. And at the back of those spears, a second smoothed bumper splits a decked trunk, polished exhaust tips and sweet Oldsmobile taillights.

POWER BY FORD

In some enthusiast's minds, there's nothing worse than finding a stylish Ford hot rod only to tilt the hood and discover something akin to a generic Chevrolet small block. Well, fear not purists, because this blue oval bombshell features 351 cubic inches of proven Ford Windsor that was professionally rebuilt by the pros at West Side Radiator and Machine of Dubuque, Iowa. At the top of that bright red mill, an Edelbrock Performer 351 intake stacks a polished air cleaner on a 600cfm Holley 4-barrel. That plane pushes air and fossils through tough Ford heads, which cap a hydraulic Edelbrock cam with polished Ford valve covers. At the front of those heads, PerTronix solid-state ignition sequences spark through loomed Mileage Plus plug wires. And spent gases fall through traditional Ford exhaust manifolds.

HONORING TRADITION

Throw this razor-sharp drop-top on a lift and you'll find a predictable Ford X-frame chassis that mixes traditional character with focused upgrades. Shifts come courtesy of a sturdy C4 3-speed that's been professionally overhauled by Shift Point Transmission Specialists of Kieler, Wisconsin. Motivation is provided by a familiar Ford axle that's finished with smooth, 2.75 gears. Turns come courtesy of factory power steering. Stops are provided by traditional drums. The engine keeps roaring thanks to rowdy, glasspack-style mufflers. The odometer keeps turning thanks to color-keyed steelies, which twist Dodge Lancer-style discs inside 215/75R15 Coker Classic whitewalls. And the car's factory suspension has been upgraded with a thick front sway bar and rear lowering blocks.

TIMELESS COOL

Pop this cool convertible's doors and you'll find a tasteful Ivory interior that was professionally installed during the car's detailed restoration. Front and center, original-style telemetry tops a “V8” branded dash that's complete with direct-fit audio and factory heat. Behind that dash, broad bench seats have been upgraded with Ssnake-Oyl belts. Classy side panels hang Ford-branded speakers above premium carpet. And the driver spins a retro Master-Guide steering wheel.

This exceptionally clean Crestline is one of the coolest cruisers on the planet!
