19,630 Mile Camaro SS 35th Ann. LS1 V8 6spd T-tops A/C Leather
Few cars in the history of American motoring have been as consistently good as the Camaro. Where some of their rivals took a misstep or two, Chevrolet did all they could to ensure the F-body remained a stylish and affordable performance platform. Because of that, each new generation has found a following and, ultimately, a place in the collector car world. In recent years, third-generation Camaro prices have seen steady growth, and limited production fourth gens are already claiming a few rays of the spotlight. Take, for example, this Limited Edition 35th Anniversary SS. One of only 1,971 35th Anniversary SS coupes assembled during the final year of F-Body production, this spicy Chevy has all the hallmarks of a great collector piece. And if you're in the market for a solid long-term investment, a clean piece of GM history, or just a quick car with a unique look, it's your kind of classic!
BODYWORK/TRIM
Garaged and pampered since being one of the last vehicles to roll off GM's Sainte Therese, Quebec assembly line, this awesome Camaro is a showroom-spec gem that's seen only 19,630 miles of blacktop. Judging by the car's slick paint, a vivid coat of Bright Red 2-stage that's decorated in flowing Heritage Stripes, those jaunts seemed more occasional than regular. And today, this Chevy rolls as one seriously capable pony car that parks with the finest classics and runs the fastest street warriors!
At the front of the car's brilliant pigment, one of the most aggressive faces Chevrolet ever produced hangs factory-fresh headlights above an ornate header emblem, HID fog lamps and a Flat Black grille that's finished with silver “CAMARO” lettering. Behind that grille, a composite ram air hood centers a black inlay in front of a fresh greenhouse that's capped by optional T-tops. Beneath that glass, exclusive 35th Anniversary fender emblems add intricate detail to a sculpted profile that floats body-matched door moldings under color-keyed mirrors. And at the back of the car, an SS-exclusive spoiler frames tri-color taillights, a stylish “SS” badge and a second round of silver “CAMARO” lettering.
ENGINE
Under the SLP-supplied bonnet, a Gen III LS1 V8 combines a sturdy aluminum block with lightweight aluminum heads, coil-near-plug ignition and aluminum flat-top pistons to twist a solid 325 horsepower into 350 lb./ft. of Kansas-flat torque. At the top of the engine, trick SLP induction feeds a factory-spec throttle body, which is bolted to a lightweight, composite intake. High octane fossils are provided by GM electronic fuel injection. Sparks are sequenced through AC Delco plug wires. Spent gases get whisked away by factory manifolds. Cooling comes courtesy of a factory radiator. And, aesthetically, the Cast Silver mill blends seamlessly with the car's spotless, Bright Rally Red engine bay.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
Under this Chevy, clean floors and factory-spec hardware make it clear the car's previous owners were meticulous about maintenance. Behind the engine, you'll find a slick-shifting Borg Warner T56 6-speed, which spins an SLP-supplied torsen differential around sporty, 3.42 gears. Braking is provided by four power-assisted discs, which are upfitted with standard anti-lock technology. Exhaust floats through factory pipes that terminate at polished, quad-outlet tips. At the corners, 35th Anniversary-exclusive wheels spin 275/40ZR17 Uniroyal Tiger Paw radials around machined and painted spokes. And, unlike some Camaros of the past, this fourth generation has the hardware to maximize all its power thanks to an SLP-tuned double A-arm front and 3-link rear suspension.
INTERIOR
Between the doors, 35th Anniversary-exclusive buckets wrap vivid embroidery and 2-tone hides around 6-way power adjustment for the car's driver. The instrument panel is a legible GM layout that features a built-in Driver Information Center next to a large tachometer and sweeping speedometer. At the floor, a short shifter surfs a small console between clean 35th Anniversary mats. In front of the driver, a leather-clad steering wheel sports convenient thumb controls for an awesome Monsoon sound system. And naturally, all the luxuries you'd expect in a modern car are present and accounted for, including power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, a power trunk and Remote Keyless Entry that's complete with GM's PASSkey theft deterrent system.
