Description

If you are a Chevrolet aficionado it doesn't get much better than owning a first generation Corvette. Regardless of what year, every Corvette from 1953-1962 shares a connection with that first Corvette that rolled out from the factory and started the now legendary brand. Recent sales and auction results don't lie, C1 Corvettes are highly collectable and are some of the most sought after Corvettes these days. This 1960 Corvette is a perfect example why.

The beneficiary of a frame off restoration, today this 1960 Corvette speaks to collectors by being covered in a gorgeous shade of Roman Red and paired with a Roman Red interior as well. If you are in the market for a C1 Corvette then you need to take a closer look at this 1960 Corvette. But first, let's start by decoding the VIN: 00867S106525
• 0: 1960
• 08: Corvette
• 67: Convertible
• S: Assembled in St. Louis, Missouri
• 106525: Basic production number

In 1958 the Corvette's body received an updated look with a longer front end and quad headlamps, bumper exiting exhaust tips, and some interior changes. The result created a small era from 1958 -'62 that saw what many consider to be the banner machines in the Corvette Legacy. At the front of this incredible 1960 Corvette is an aggressive grille that is flanked on both sides by chrome bumper. Above the bumper rests the four headlights and in the center of the nose the famous cross flags sit in a Chevrolet Corvette emblem. Make your way past the fenders and sculpted hood, and you'll see the coves are correctly coated in the Ermine White and are separated from the Roman Red by vibrant chrome trim. On the doors the chrome 'Fuel Injection' emblems give away what is lying in wait in the engine bay. At the back of the car you'll find another matching Corvette emblem and a rear bumper with dual exhaust finishing off the look.

Pop the hood forward on this '60 Vette and you'll reveal an engine bay that has been stuffed with the original top of the line engine option for 1960. In 1960, your engine choice was limited to seven options of a 283ci V8, two of which were standard with fuel injection. In the engine bay, sits the original numbers matching 315hp fuel injected 283ci V8. The block that is painted in the famous Chevy Orange wears a correct 6 digit partial VIN number and a F0413CS stamping that tells us that it was built in the Flint Michigan plant on April 13th and the CS designates it as the rare top of the line choice for 1960. Between the two Corvette branded valve covers is the tall Rochester fuel injection setup. In front of the engine is a tall radiator and shroud that houses the mechanical fan.

Put the Corvette on a lift and you'll see how detailed this restoration really was. The frame, which is painted in flat black, looks great against the beige undercarriage, both of which show no signs of wear or rust. At the front of the Corvette you'll find double A-arm suspension with a leaf spring style setup in the rear. Bolted to the 283 is the original Borg Warner T-10 4-speed manual transmission that sends power to the 4.10 gears that wears a correct 3743833 C210 stamp that tells us it was built on March 21st 1960. At the corners of the car, 4-wheel drum brakes are responsible for slowing the vehicle. Spent gasses travel out from the headers through dual exhausts that exit out the rear bumper. Power flows to the pavement through standard 15” steelies that have been wrapped in BF Goodrich whitewall tires.

Open the doors to this Vette and you'll see how the interior is just as impressive as the rest of the vehicle. A bright Roman Red interior greets those who open the doors, and features a stylish look that is lost on production cars of today. The two red vinyl bucket seats are in excellent shape and really stand out thanks to chrome trim that separates the body from the seats. In front of the driver is the red steering wheel and in the center of the wheel the famous Corvette cross flags. Beyond the wheel is a gorgeous instrument cluster. A huge 160 MPH speedometer stretches across the dash, and just below it a 7000 RPM tachometer is flanked by four smaller gauges that houses the fuel, battery, temperature, and oil pressure gauges. Between the two bucket seats is the shifter for the 4-speed transmission and an analog clock just below the controls for the AM radio and heater. On the floors you'll find what appears to be brand new carpet and a Corvette floor mats.

This first generation Corvette embodies American history and is evidence that there was a time in automotive history where automobile manufacturers weren't concerned with gas mileage or safety regulations. Instead they were concerned with creating a unique look, standing out from the crowd, and packing as much horsepower in to the engine bay as possible. Not only that, but these C1 corvettes built the foundation for the Corvettes we see leaving the Chevrolet factories today. This 1960 Corvette is a stunning example of a pristine C1. It is covered in an immaculate coat of Roman Red, features over 300 horsepower waiting under the hood, and a legendary look. Don't miss out on your opportunity to add a stellar Corvette convertible to your collection. Call, click or visit http://RKMotorsCharlotte.com for more information.
