Description

Whoever says you can't own a nice muscle car without mortgaging the house obviously hasn't been to our RK Motors Charlotte showroom. As your number one source for legendary '60s classics, we take pride in selling Detroit's nastiest and most storied creations whether they're investment grade or not. And this sinister Dodge Dart, with its road ready drivetrain, attractive black paint and 360 cubic inch LA V8, is definitely one of the coolest Chryslers we've ever featured! If you're in the market for a super-clean street bruiser that you can show, build on and enjoy for years, kick off 2014 behind the wheel of this incredibly priced Mopar!

The beneficiary of a professional restoration, this awesome Dodge coupe has been fully rebuilt from its solid frame rails all the way to its bright drip rails. Take a good look at the highly detailed pictures and you'll see one slick Mopar that's logged only weekend miles since it was thoroughly shaken down. The car's sculpted Chrysler body has been massaged and finessed until its panels were straight and solid. Naturally, two-stage urethane was chosen to create a slick, wet-look finish. And at the back of that two-stage, red bumble bee stripes perfectly frame slab-sided quarter panels.

Widely regarded as one of the most successful compact platforms to ever roll out of Detroit, the Dart offered buyers the same excellent combination of performance and style in the '60s as it does today. At the front of the car, a black, anodized grille centers two large parking lamps between two larger headlights, a pristine chrome bumper and a cursive “Dodge” script. Above that grille, a pinned hood props a giant Hemi scoop in front of fresh glass that's cleared by satin-finished wipers and framed in well-maintained stainless trim. Below that glass, faceted body panels are detailed with traditional door handles, ornate marker lamps and a chrome fuel cap. At the sides of those handles, a familiar Chrysler pentastar combines with a stylish driver's mirror to perfectly complement bold “D A R T” lettering. And at the back of the car, a smooth decklid centers a small fratzog between a second “Dodge” script, canted tail lights and a second pristine bumper.

Lift the car's jet black hood and you'll find Chrysler's stalwart 360 cubic inch LA V8 that, while generally under appreciated, was versatile enough to serve as the corporation's big motor backbone for over three decades. At the top of the Hemi Orange block, a proven Holley 4-barrel funnels wind from a K&N Xtream air cleaner to a high quality Mopar M1 intake. At the sides of that intake, attractive Mopar Performance valve covers cap original 340 heads, which hang over ceramic-coated, long-tube headers. Behind those headers, sparks are sequenced to MSD Street Fire plug wires via a traditional points distributor. Opposite that distributor, fresh V-belts spin a large alternator beside a billet-based flex fan. And in front of that fan, a heavy duty Chrysler radiator circulates water through fresh rubber hoses. This Dart's clean engine bay is a nice combination of form and function, featuring items like a modern Optima battery and polished stainless fuel lines. And everything from the car's fenders to its firewall is coated in the same excellent looking two-stage as its glossy exterior panels.

Take one look under this meaty Mopar and you'll find a fully sorted chassis that's certainly equipped to back up the car's sinister good looks. Just aft of the big-bore engine, a slick-shifting Chrysler Torqueflite 3-speed spins a highway-friendly, 8.75-inch rear end. That smooth drivetrain feeds a fully sorted front torsion bar and rear leaf suspension that's shackled to traditional manual steering. Cool and confident stops are provided by manual discs up front and manual drums out back. Exhaust flows through large-diameter pipes to an H-shaped crossover, beefy Dynomax mufflers and matte-finished turndowns. Above that impressive hardware, solid floors have been properly undercoated; instead of polished in a nice shade of body-matched basecoat like so many over-restored Mopars that roll through our showroom. At the edges of those floors, sturdy subframe connectors counter twist from 15-inch Rallye wheels, 195/65 Goodyear Aquatread 3s and 235/60 BF Goodrich Comp T/A Drag Radials. And a thorough examination of all the car's bushings, lines and hoses ensures it has road going reliability to matches its eyeball-popping curb appeal.

If you like monochromatic muscle cars, you'll definitely appreciate this Dart's clean black interior. The car's perches are firm to the touch, featuring pliable covers that present very well. In front of those seats, a warp-free dash hangs Chrysler's trademark square speedometer and a modern JVC CD player above Autogage accessory gauges. Below that dash, fade-free carpet centers “Dodge” branded floor mats on a booted Hurst shifter. At the sides of that carpet, black door panels sprinkle bright chrome hardware above integrated Concept kick speakers. In front of the driver, a flashy, speed-drilled steering wheel spins a thick wood rim around an Auto Meter Sport Comp tachometer. And behind the passengers, large PowerBass speakers top a fully restored trunk.

The sale of this vintage compact includes an owner's manual and instructions for the aforementioned CD player.

Over the past few years, some of our best selling cars have been ultra-clean, super sharp Darts. They're fast. They're tons of fun. And best of all, you don't have to raid the kids' college fund to buy one. If you're looking for a top notch muscle car that you can keep, show and enjoy for years to come, you can't go wrong with this sinister Dodge!
