Frame Up Restored Camaro Yenko 427 V8 4 Speed
If you're a fan of televised collector car auctions, you've probably seen tributes like this awesome Yenko Camaro cross the block for rock-solid prices. That's because, in a market where investment grade cars and hobby cars are becoming increasingly polar, these high quality recreations are the best way to get the thrill of owning an otherwise unobtainable piece of automotive history. This top notch Yenko tribute is a complete, road ready big block car which features a date-correct 427, a stylish Ivory interior and correct exterior paint. If you're one of those buyers who values absolute authenticity, we can certainly accommodate you. But if you're one of the growing number of enthusiasts who wants to actually enjoy the performance, look, and value of the storied Yenko name, your Super Car awaits!
There's no question that the '69 Camaro is one of the best looking muscle cars of all time. Throw in a slick combination of correct GM code 53 Glacier Blue paint and authentic race-inspired Yenko decals, and it becomes one seriously lust-worthy piece of automotive art. Naturally, all this Chevy's top notch eye candy rides on a clean and arrow-straight body which presents solid, dent-free panels with better-than-new fit and super narrow gaps. The car's rugged two-stage urethane provides the kind of dynamic finish and glossy shine that will emphasize its power and attitude for years to come. And the result is one high quality head turner which sets the standard for any pony car that dare show its face at the same cruise night!
The overall look of this F1 is beyond factory fresh. And thanks to an astute attention to detail, the car has the kind of killer eyeball appeal that makes casual by-standers stop and take notice. At the front of its body, a stainless-trimmed Rally Sport grille hangs hidden halogen headlights above a showroom fresh bumper, crystal clear parking lamps and an optional D80 chin spoiler. At the top of that grille, a familiar cowl induction hood shines bright “427” emblems in front of like-new glass that's cleared by matte wipers, topped by fresh drip rails and framed by straight stainless trim. At the sides of that hood, sculpted fenders hang “Camaro” and “Yenko” scripts above standard stainless rocker trim that perfectly complements traditional chrome door handles, a correct driver's mirror and optional Rally Sport fender louvers. And at the back of the car, an optional D80 decklid aligns perfectly with a black, “Yenko 427” branded valence, segmented tail lights, a second showroom fresh bumper and Rally Sport reverse lamps.
While the exterior of the famed Yenko Camaros is a story all its own, what really made these cars special is what lived between their fenders. Lift this Chevy's glossy blue hood and you'll find a date-correct, LR code 427 that's been restored to a highly detailed, show worthy appearance. At the top of that hot block, air flows from a functional, “427” branded cowl induction system into a Holley 4150 4-barrel and familiar Winter intake. At the sides of that intake, stamped and chromed valve covers hang multi-colored Yenko decals above black Hooker headers. At the back of those valve covers, a rebuilt points distributor sends fire through correct Packard TV R Suppression wires. Cooling is provided by a marked heavy duty radiator that sends water through reproduction GM hoses and fresh tower clamps. And since most '69 Camaros came factory-equipped with power disc brakes, an appropriately tagged Delco Moraine booster is present and accounted for. Aesthetically, the satin black engine compartment is impressively clean and, for the most part, looks straight out of Don Yenko's Pennsylvania showroom. The bright Chevy Orange mill displays correct overspray. And details like a Delco Energizer battery, a GM washer fluid tank and standard gray hood hardware add the kind of finishing touches that'll make you want to pop the lid as soon as you park the car.
While you could order a Yenko with a slushbox, the vast majority were equipped with 'row as you go' 4-speeds. And this particular tribute utilizes a virtually indestructible Borg Warner T-10 to spin a correct 12 bolt rear end around tire shredding gears. That transmission rides just behind a restored double A-arm suspension which features fresh shocks and familiar Delco Moraine calipers. That rear end hangs between restored leaf springs and two more fresh shocks. At the center of the floors, a thrill-inducing soundtrack roars through a chambered exhaust system that sounds so mean it'll give Mustang drivers nightmares. And at the corners of the chassis, era-correct American Racing Torque Thrust Ds spin a fresh set of F70-15 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sports. Even though the bottom of this Camaro has been professionally detailed to include a full set of factory accurate paint daubs, chalk marks and inspection stickers, its fully restored chassis is completely sorted and ready to hit the road. What's not to love about a classic that you can show AND enjoy?
Inside this pristine tribute, it's 100% Camaro; and that's always a good thing! Stunning Ivory upholstery features a simple, driver-oriented feel that just can't be matched by today's technology-laden cockpits. And bold “YSC” headrest decals provide just the right amount of detail to elevate an already impressive appearance to a whole new level. In front of the driver, a good looking dash hangs beautifully restored gauges between components for the car's heater and Astro Ventilation system. Below that dash, a chrome Hurst shifter rides between a tradition white cue ball and “H” branded boot. Below that shifter, like-new carpet is protected by color-keyed, “Camaro” branded mats and traditional Fisher sills. At the sides of that carpet, standard Ivory door panels are decorated with excellent looking stainless and correct "Camaro" emblems. Above those panels, a tight black headliner, which retains all of its color, centers a chrome-trimmed dome lamp between fade-free shoulder belts. Connecting the driver to the road is a traditional rosewood steering wheel that spins satin-finished spokes around a red, white and blue horn button. And behind the passengers, an accurately restored trunk holds a correct jack and full-size spare tire between fresh decklid decals and a new houndstooth mat.
If a Super Sport is just too ordinary, and you really dig the magical appeal of that storied 4, 2, and 7 number combination, this high quality Yenko is just what you need. Restoring a Camaro to the show-worthy level of this classic will cost a lot more than our asking price. And even if you started today, it would be at least a year before your project began to resemble a finished car. So go ahead; give in to temptation and let this awesome Super Car show you exactly what instant gratification is all about!
